Deal Scores
How Deal Scores work.
Book values can't read the ad and AI estimates hallucinate. CarSnag prices every car with the engine we run our own wholesale business on, down to your region, trim and packages, and the Deal Score shows at a glance how far below that the asking price sits.
The scale
Five stars is your cue to move.
We have the pulse of the market.
CarSnag continuously tracks every major Canadian marketplace: millions of listings and the price moves behind them, around the clock. Most buyers work off the handful of ads in front of them. You get the pulse of the whole market, so your read on a price reflects what is really happening out there, not a lucky or unlucky sample. That breadth is the difference, and it is hard to get any other way.
Backed by real market comps.
Every score is built on comparable listings: vehicles with the same model specs, similar mileage, in your region. That depth of data is what makes the benchmark trustworthy. It is grounded in what a vehicle actually commands where you're buying.
Then do what the pros do.
CarSnag gets you to the right listings fast. From there, best practice is the same as always: inspect and drive the vehicle and check its history before you commit. The score is a head start, not a replacement for a look in person. A strong score plus a quick inspection and a clean history check is how a good deal becomes a confident buy.

Good to know
What shapes a score.
Model specs & mileage
We compare like with like at similar mileage. The benchmark reflects the actual vehicle, not a rough class average.
Your region
Prices move differently across the country. Scores lean on comparable listings where you're buying.
Live price movement
We watch the price on every listing, not just new ones. A car that was overpriced last week is worth a call the day the seller drops it, and you hear about it that day.
The whole market
We see the whole market, not a slice of it: every major Canadian marketplace, coast to coast, around the clock. That is what gives us the comps to price a car in your market instead of using a national average.
Common questions
Straight answers.
How does CarSnag know a car is underpriced?
CarSnag compares the asking price with what the same car is listed for right now: same model, trim, vehicle specs, and mileage, in the same region, across every major marketplace. The gap between the two is the Deal Score, from 0 to 5 stars.
Can I trust CarSnag's valuations?
Yes. It is the engine its founders buy cars with in their own wholesale business, priced against live comparable listings with the same model, trim, vehicle specs, and mileage in your region, instead of a book average. A five-star score tells you the price is well under market; an inspection and a history check tell you the car is sound.
How is a Deal Score different from KBB or a "Great Deal" badge?
Book values are averages that cannot read the ad, and marketplace badges rate a car only against the listings on their own site. A Deal Score prices the exact car in the ad, down to the trim and packages, against the whole market in your region.
